IRLA No. 647 Shri Joginder Singh, DyComdt, DC of 3 PGA(Now 1066 BSF Arty Regiment) attained martyrdom on 17Dec 1971 at Indo Pak Border in the Kutchh Region of Gujaratduring Indo-Pak war 1971. Born on 29 March 1941, ShriJoginder Singh, DC joined BSF on 31 May 1967. Shri Joginder Singh, DC(Arty) was entrusted with theresponsibility of raising BSF PGA Regts at Bhuj.He alongwithBSF Arty stood by the job entrusted to him and effectively countered the hostile activities of the enemy Artillery.Heprovided fire support not only to the BSF Battalion but also tothe army INF regiments and inflicted heavy casualties on enemy. He sacrificed his life during the war in battlefield.His sacrifice has been recognized by Govt.of India by awardinghim “VIR CHAKRA” (Posthumously). His next of kin Smt Krishna Bachhal(wife) resides at H.No.484, Sector - 13 U.E, Kurukshetra, Haryana.
