Regt No. 731110559 HC KhunihoSema of 111 BnBSFattained martyrdom on 1 Sep 1989 at CI Post “LaniyeBridge” while performing Counter Insurgency role. Born on20 Nov 1934, HC KhunihoSema joined BSF on 16 Sep 1973.HC KhunihoSema laid down his life while defending CIPost “Laniye Bridge” thus saving his “comrades in Arms” on1 Sep 1989 when post was attacked by about 50 Armed Nagainsurgents. HC KhunihoSema inflicted heavy casualties andlosses to the attackers and the attack was repulsed which brought honour to the unit as well as to the force.His sacrifice has beenrecognised by Govt.of India by awarding him “Shaurya Chakra”.His next of kin SmtKhasheliSema(wife) resides at Vill - Hokiya, PO - Satakha, Distt - Zunheboto, Nagaland.
