Regt No. 98633796 Ct Vishnu Singh Shekhawat of 52 BnBSF attained martyrdom on 5 May 2003 at 92 BH Srinagarafter being injured in anti-militant action. Born on 19 May 1978,Ct Vishnu Singh Shekhawat joined BSF on 15 Oct 1998.On 5 May 2003 at about 0630 hrs, the troops of 52 Bn carriedan operation and encounter took place between the troopsand militants who were hiding in a house.Ct Vishnu SinghShekhawat was detailed to hurl grenade inside the rooms.During the action he got bullet injury on his forehead.Despitebeing seioursly injured, Ct Vishnu Singh hekhawat opened fireupon the militant and killed him on the spot.He succumbed to his injury on the same day. His sacrifice was recognized by Govt.of India by awarding him“Shaurya Chakra”(Posthumously).His next of kin Smt Vinod Kanwar(wife) resides at VPO - Hirna, Via - Beswa, Distt - Sikar, Rajasthan.
