
IRLA NO. 31064 Shri Sat Pal Singh Choudhary, 2IC of 129 Bn, BSF, attained martyrdom on 28 June 1999 at Kupwara (Kashmir) while performing CI Duty. Born on 13 Dec 1958, Shri Sat Pal Singh, 2IC joined BSF on 17 Dec 1984.
On 28 June, 1999 troops of 129 Bn BSF got information regarding 40 to 50 Militants near Halmatpura ridge, Kupwara (J&K). Troops under Shri Sat Pal Singh Choudhary, 2IC, carried out raid on the militant hideout and in this operation, Shri Sat Pal Singh Choudhary, 2IC sustained fatal injuries and and his vocal cord was blown up by bullet hit. But undeterred of serious injuries he kept the militants engaged and shot down one Pak militant before succumbing to his injuries whose identity was established as Ashik Hussain of Dhudhniyal Pak as per his pocket diary.
His sacrifice has been recognized by Govt. of India by awarding him “Police Medal for Gallantry” (Posthumously).
His next of kin Smt Suman Choudhary (wife) resides at H.No. 01 Vill-Panjupura, PO-Yamuna Nagar, Distt-Yamuna Nagar, Haryana.
