Regt No. 95009756 Ct C Stanly of 10 Bn BSF attainedmartyrdom on 3 July 2002 at village VheckIchhagaz,Pulwama, Srinagar, while performing CI duty. Born on 25 July 1973, Ct C Stanly joined BSF on 16 Feb 1995. On 3 July 2002, a party of 1 SI and 14 ORs left Pakharpura forcordoning of village ChackiChangoz.Ct C Stanly took positionat vital point to cover the escape route.He saw one militant inthe room of top floor.The militant also having seen the troopssurrounding the house opened fire towards Ct C Stanly.The firewas effectively retaliated by Ct C Stanly.Militant shifted hisposition and started firing from ground floor.Ct C Stanly was hiton the stomach.Ct C Stanly fired one long burst on that militantand killed him on the spot.Later Ct C Stanly succumbed to hisinjuries. His sacrifice has been recognized by Govt.of India by awardinghim “Kirti Chakra”(Posthumously). His next of kin Shri D Chinna Pillai(father) resides at Vill - Vandangavailai House, PO - Kulappuram, Distt - Kanyakumari, Tamilnadu.
