BRIEF ABOUT FRONTIER

    FTR HQ BSF (CI OPS) was initially raised at New Delhi on 16 December 2009. Subsequently, FTR HQ BSF (CI OPS) was renamed as HQ IG (SPL OPS) with its KLP at Bengaluru and was shifted to Bengaluru on 4 August 2010 with its THQ at Bhilai (CG) on 13 December 2010. Consequent upon bifurcation of HQ IG (SPL OPS) as Ftr HQ (SPL OPS) BSF CG and Ftr HQ(SPL OPS) BSF Bangalore, THQ of Ftr HQ (SPL OPS) Bangalore was shifted to Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 29 January 2013. Advance THQ of THQ (SPL OPS), Odisha is functioning at Koraput. 
      This Frontier is having deployment with 03 Sector Headquarters and 09 Battalions under command. A total of 08 Bns are deployed for ANO duties, 04 each under SHQ Koraput and SHQ Malkangiri in Odisha and 01 Bn is deployed under SHQ Trivandrum, Kerala for IS Duties as Reserve Bn. IG HQ (Spl Ops) Odisha is one of the widest Ftrs of BSF, with multifaceted responsibilities, geographically covering states of Odisha, Tamil Nadu,  Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala.
