On 10 Feb 2012, at about 0755 Hrs, Shri J R Khaswan, Comdt, Inspr(G), ASI(RM) along with escort party with 02 vehicles left for Chitrakonda for the briefing of troops regarding Panchayat / Jila Parishad Election in Distt – Malkangiri. After the briefing of COB troops, Shri J R Khaswan, Comdt along with Shri Rajesh Sharan, 2IC (Who had already gone to COB – Janbai Ghat on 08/2/2012), Inspr(G) Ashok Kumar Yadav, ASI/RM Jeetender Kumar and escort party with three vehicles while way back to THQ Balimela, one of the escort personnel informed that about 1305 hrs that IED blast took place on the Balimela – Chitrakonda Road in between Tunnel Camp and THQ Balimela which is about 12 Kms from the Balimela. On receiving information, Adjt along with the CMO(SG) and QRT party of the unit rushed to the POO immediately. On reaching the place of occurrence, the area was cordoned off and searched all around the POO. On search, 02 personnel namely No. 90109988 Ct/Dvr Suvendu Kundu and No. 02100209 Ct Bishnu Pani found injured and were immediately evacuated to the Civil Hosp Malkangiri by the CMO (SG) at about 10430 hrs for treatment. Dead body of Sh J R Khaswan, Comdt (IRLA No. 189413471), Shri Rajesh Sharan, 2IC (IRLA No. 19666907), No. 050012268 Inspr(G) Ashok Kumar Yadav and No. 971020037 ASI(RM) Jeetender Kumar recovered from the place of occurrence and further sent to Civil Hosp Malkangiri along with escort party for postmortem at about 101530 Hrs. On 01 Sep 2012 at about 0820 hrs, Party COB Pallur of 28 Bn BSF consisting Sh P K Bhukta, AC alongwith 06 Sos and 33 Ors left COB Pallur to carry out IED checking cum ADP from COB Pallur to village Gechala and Matlamba. After tactically travelling a distance about 3.2 Kms by clearing both side of the road party reached appx 200 Mtr near village Patmunda from North direction of COB Pallur, at about 0915 hrs an IED blasted as a result of which on 00131148 Ct Dhiren Kumar Sahu got minor injury on his eyebrow and lip. Individual immediately given first aid at the place of occurrence by N/Asst and further evacuated to COB Pallur. During search of the area of one death body of No 89401572 Const Xavier Kindo who was on front guide. Recovered appx 20 mtr away from POO. Pace of the occurrence appx 3.2 Kms from COB on the direction of north.

On 26Aug’2013, at about 0830 hrs party consisting No 070010392 Inspr Gourav Godbole a/w 02 SOs alongwith 15 ORsleft THQ Balimela alongwith ston veh 02 Nos and TATA 709 – 01 No for BN HQ to Gandhinagar by road carrying arms/amn and other controlled items. Party arrived at SHQ BSF Koraput on 26 aug’20131700 hrs and halted for night . On 27 Aug’2013 at about 0720 hrs party left KPT for onward move to GNR.At about 27 aug’2013, at 0915 hrs while party reached at a bend on road, 06 Kms ahead of Potangi towards Vishakhapatnam on juard road under PS Potangi party was ambushed by naxals. Firstly Naxals blasted a powerful IED followed by heavy volume of fire upon govt veh on NH 26 appx distance 45 kms fm Sector Koraput. Out of three veh , rear vehTATA 05 Ton bearing no JK 05 7189 blown of IED Blast resulting front of above veh Got totally damaged and guard of veh led by NO 87332531 ASI Jaswant Singh, HC/DVR Surender Singh, HC Virender Prasad, CT Guroo Dayal Singh passed away on the spot. |

On the basis of information regarding presence of Naxals in the general area of village Sarkibandha, on 26th Aug’ 2015a joint Spl Ops was planned to carry out Spl Ops in general area of village Chintadulli comma Bhannanjuli and Sarkibandha by troops of ‘E’ Coys COB Badapada and ‘G’ coy COB Janbai, ex-104 Bn BSF. Sh Ashok Kumar, AC Coy Comdr along with SOs- 04, ORs- 24 and OAPF- 01 Total- 30 pers plus 04 W/W pers of COB Janbai and Sh Rajesh T K Lakra, AC Coy Comdr along with SOs- 07 and ORs- 39 of COB Badapada (total- 81 pers) including ‘G’ Rep left for target area at about 0540 hrs from COB Janbai. In the first boat, Sh Ashok Kumar, AC/ Coy Comdr COB Janbai alongwith 09 troops plus 02 WW pers total- 12 pers marched towards Palangria Ghat to senitize and secure the ghat area for safe arrival of other troops at ghat and further move to target area. At about 260630 hrs, when the first boat reaching at Palangrai Ghat at the bank of Balimela Reservior, an IED blast took place followed by heavy firing by Naxals from three directions. Immediately, Sh Ashok Kumar, AC/Coy Comdr had got splinter and bullet injury ordered to fire on the Naxals. Moreover, Second party also retaliate against Naxal fire on other direction. Due to retaliation by BSF troops, Naxals withdrew and fled away from the Place of Occurrence by taking advantage of dense jungle. During the incident, 03 BSF pers sacrificed their live and 07 pers BSF injured due to IED blast / firing by Naxals. Details are as under In the blast, the following 03 personnel. ASI/GD R Siddaiah, HC(M) Ravichandran, CT/Crew G S Abhilash, were sacrificed their life. |

At about 080615 hrs MCP party led by Sh Sunil Kumar Behera, DC a/w 03 SOs and 16 ORs left for spot verification and to findout details of an accident in which an civilian namely Bapi (35 Yrs) ration shop owner of village Dandabari was killed in front of his house at Dandabari Chawk with arm by armed Naxal group on 072200 hrs. While party was returning towads COB Ramagiri at about 081215 hrs, one IED planted by Naxals was exploded on metallicroad appx 03 Kms from COB Ramagiri on Dandabari-Ramagiri axis damaging first Motor Cycle on which No. 991870589 Const Sibasis Panda was riding and Sh Sunil Kumar Behera,DC was sitting as Pillon rider. Both Sustained serious injuries due to which both lost their lives. POO is very innocent because it is near to COB Ramagiri , on metallic road, no culvert /bridge , no dense forest. The crater was appx 6’x4’ having 2’.5’ depth. The blast was huge which damaged Motor Cycle in to pieces. Due to the blast Motor Cycle blown up and it was found appx 10 mtr, the dead body of Const Panda at 8 Mtrs and Sh Sunil Kumar Behera, DC at about 15 Mtrs from the centre of crater on the left side. The other pieces of Motor Cycle were found up to 100 Mtrs. |
