SH. SANJAY GAUR
INSPECTOR GENERAL
FTR HQ BSF GUWAHATI
IG's MESSAGE
It is indeed a matter of privilege and honor to take over the command of the prominent Guwahati Frontier, the youngest BSF Frontier in the northeastern part of India. Guwahati Frontier was established on October 1, 2011, by bifurcating the Guwahati Sector (now Dhubri Sector, consisting of three units) from the A & M Frontier and Cooch Behar Sector (consisting of three regular units and one ANO unit from North Bengal Frontier). Under the command of Sh R K Chaudhary, Inspector General, SHQ FALAKATA, with three regular units, was later integrated with this Frontier on April 1, 2012.
2. I consider it a privilege to be entrusted with the responsibility to command the Guwahati Frontier. The Area of Responsibility (AOR) of this Frontier spans two adjoining states, West Bengal and Assam, a sensitive and vulnerable area from the viewpoint of trans-border crimes. With recent confidence-building measures and dialogue between India and Bangladesh, border management has become even more sensitive, requiring non-lethal practices and restraint. This Frontier also faces the challenge of mighty rivers specially Brahmaputra crossing the border and non-feasible gaps. I am happy to note that despite challenges, our Border men tackle them with a determined mind and supreme confidence.
