HISTORY OF THE STC BSF KHARKAN CAMP (PUNJAB)

STC, BSF Kharkan (Punjab) is located at a distance of 13 kms from Hoshiarpur city on Hoshiarpur - Una road at the foot hills of lower Shivaliks. STC (Punjab) was Initially established at Jalandhar on 01 March, 1968 and later shifted to the present location on 25 April, 1979. Total area of the campus is 898 Acres 02 Kanals and 05 Marlas, under the jurisdiction of Hoshiarpur Distt of Punjab. Two third area of STC is semi hilly, undulating, and crisscrossed by numerous Nalahs. The area of STC Kharkan is surrounded by village Kharkan in the East, village Havelian in the south, Village Dalewal in the west and lower ranges of Shivalik Hills towards north. Since its inception a 33711 number of recruits have passed out from this STC. BRT of Mahila Recruits started from 2008 at this Instn and till date 3346 Mahila recruits have passed out and at present 36 Recruits (Mahila/Recruit Constables are undergoing Basic Recruit Training in 01 Coy. Adequate training facilities are available within the campus which includes long ranges, short range, Grenade range, field firing range, Jungle lane shooting etc. Faculty of Training building is having well-furnished class rooms with Audio-Visual aids. An Audio Visual Hall, stadium & Drill square and sufficient numbers of playground for outdoor games are available in the STC. Area of  STC BSF Kharkan campus is spread over 898 Acres 02 Kanals and 05 Marlas of land, adjacent to Hoshiarpur Una Road.

To churn out physically tough, mentally alert, highly skilled and motivated “SEEMA PRAHARIS” of Border Security Force to take challenges of national security both on border and in hinterland.

OBJECTIVES

To impart Basic Recruit Training & combat training to Constable recruits. To impart Basic Training to Sportsmen & Class-IV. To train BSF personnel in specialized field’s i.e Border Security & Surveillance, Weapon training, Counter Insurgency & firing skills etc. To conduct selected/allotted Force level courses like PW/PC (Tac). To conduct Frontier level courses/cadres and Coaching Classes of Map Reading 1st Class and BSF Edn-1st Class. To conduct Pre-promotion courses. To organize training for various sister agencies like SSB, IR Battalions, CBI, BMP
