IG Message
1. BSF has established itself as a professional and efficient organization discharging its duties with utmost dedication and with full awareness of its responsibilities in safeguarding human rights and law of the land. Its constant vigil on the LC in association with Indian Army, despite all the challenges has contributed significantly in maintaining the sanctity of the territorial integrity of the country and promoted sense of security among the inhabitants dwelling near the LC.
2. Kashmir Ftr, earlier known as North Western Frontier, was raised on 5th December 1965 and is as old as the Force.The role &contribution of the Frontier in maintaining the sanctity of the LC, controlling Militancy during CI Ops (1989-2006), various Law and order duties including providing security to lakhs of devotees during annual SANJY, is unparalleled and widely recognised by domain experts.Many bordermen have laid down their lives in the line of duty in over six decades of deployment of BSF in Kashmir valley. I take this opportunity to pay my highest homage to all the Martyrs. Their sacrifice has played a vital role in ushering in a climate of peace and progress in the UT of J&K especially in Kashmir valley.
3. The primary role of the BSF in Kashmir is to effectively dominate the LC belt and promote a sense of security among the border population. Introduction of modern equipments like day and night surveillance devices, modern weaponry, greater mobility and secure communications being used on the LC as force multipliers, has empowered the bordermen to effectively dominate their area of responsibility despitethe natural challenges of inhospitable terrain and extreme climates.
4. Apart from primary role and task, ongoing efforts on improving all basic amenities at FDLs& HQs, conducting various Medical camps and Bharat Darshan Tours under CAP, execution of BADP projects for the community, reaching out to the vulnerable section of the society during natural calamities and pandemic care all focused towards enhancing the efficiency and improving the quality of life of the bordermen and the border population.
5. It is matter of great pride and privilege for me to head the frontier. I assure all bordermen of the frontier that their safety, security and welfare shall be my topmost priority at all times.
6. Let us rededicate ourselves to fulfil the confidence reposed in us by the country in protecting the territorial integrity of our motherland,in a professional & exemplary manner and, to ensure peace and tranquillity for our countrymen living along the LC.
