It is a matter of great pride to command the South Bengal Frontier of Border Security Force. South Bengal Frontier is the oldest Frontier of BSF and considered to be one of the world's most challenging borders despite friendly relations between India and Bangladesh. In the last few years, BSF has taken a giant leap by effectively curbing the smuggling activities on the borders of this Frontier, especially cattle smuggling. BSF is committed to fight the menace of illegal infiltration/ exfiltration, human trafficking, smuggling of cattle, narcotics, gold and other cross border smuggling activities. I am sanguine that BSF praharis deployed on the border shall not leave any stone unturned to contain the trans-border crimes and at the same time maintain the sanctity of the border.
BSF is committed to fulfilling its peace time task i.e. to create a sense of security amongst the border population with the Bordermen standing firm and tall, shoulder to shoulder with the border community to provide aid and help in any crisis. BSF is a professional force and troops are sensitized to give due respect to the law abiding and peace-loving border population and their culture, customs and human rights.
BSF remains steadfast in its resolve and ever ready to meet any challenges to uphold the honour of the nation and gets the cooperation and coordination from sister agencies operating on the border to fulfil its roles and tasks. I am proud to say that in spite of braving the odds in the form of difficult terrain, harsh weather and challenge of guarding border with a friendly neighbour, the officers and troops of BSF are discharging their duties with high sense of responsibility and professionalism, on many occasions even at the cost of endangering their lives. It is essential for the senior officers in the field to provide exemplary leadership to keep the troops motivated for zero tolerance against illegal activities.
I exhort the field commanders to continuously strive and ensure the welfare of all men and women under their command, enabling them to perform their duties with full enthusiasm, zeal and happiness with the objective of achieving the Vision and the Mission of the Force.
I wish all the best to all ranks of the Frontier in their endeavour to excel and take the Force to new heights.
