
Before this, it was functioning in Kashmir Valley as an adhoc I S Duty Ftr Baramulla with its HQ at Singhpura Baramulla. As Baramulla Ftr, it had Baramulla, Kupuwara and Bandipura Sectors under its command, and was deployed on the Line of control and also engaged in counter insurgency operation in Baramulla & Kupuwara District of Kashmir Valley. After making notable achievements in accomplishing these District of Kashmir Valley. Mizoram and Cachar Ftr has three sectors namely, Cachar, Mizoram and CI Ops Manipur, under its command. Its area of responsibility is spread over three states of Assam, Mizoram and Manipur. In Mizoram and Cachar, the troops of this Ftr are guarding India’s border with Bangladesh. Troops deployed in Manipur are engaged in counter insurgency operations. BSF troops deployed in these three states are performing their duties with highest degree of dedication and commitment.

In the last few years the BSF in addition to their duties, has also been deployed for counter insurgency and internal security duties.
ETHOS:
The BSF, in its 42 years of existence, has emerged as an elite border guarding force of the country having acquitted itself with distinction in the 1971 war with Pakistan, even when it was in its infancy. Its ethos is “Any task, anytime, anywhere” BSF troops have given their sweat and blood to live upto motto of the force viz “Duty unto Death”.
